I'm not a superstitious person, for the most part. If I break a mirror, I just sweep up the pieces. Black cats are made for petting and if I spill salt, then the devil is out of luck. He will have to find someone else to toss salt into his eyes. I don't eat black eyed peas on New Years and the only reason I walk around ladders instead of under is because I don't want anything to fall on my head. (Picture this: a bucket of red paint perched on a rickety ladder, two days before senior pictures.)
*I do admit to being paranoid, however, but I think there's a world of difference between the two. I actually can justify double and triple checking to make sure I turned off the stove and locking all the doors and windows at night (and triple checking the locks). Also, avoiding ladders with buckets of paint on the top shelf.*
I love wishing fountains, though. I don't actually think tossing a penny into a fountain is going to make my wish come true, I'm not five years old, but I always stop and watch fountains and most of the time, I toss a few coins in.
Today was a good day. On the spur of the moment, my mom and I went to Ft. Worth. We weren't in a hurry, we weren't stressed, in fact we were taking a break from the stress. April was a hectic month. We did a little shopping, browsed for things we didn't need, people watched, had cookies, slushees and generally had a very good day. As we were leaving, we stopped by the fountain and I dug several coins out of my purse and handed some to Mom and kept a few for myself.
I don't know what she wished for and I didn't ask. As for me, I made the same wish I always make when I toss coins into fountains.
Thank you
Not really a wish, more of a heart-felt sentiment. On good days, I toss a few coins into fountains and take a moment to appreciate the good things in my life. Most of the fountains I toss coins into scoop up the money every few weeks and donate it to local charities, so in a way I like to think I am sharing my good day with others.
Okay, so maybe I'm a little superstitious. Leave a comment |
